Paying more than the sites needed
More than $600 a year for five small business websites, which run perfectly well on a much lighter setup.
Case study
One owner, five home service businesses in California, and a GoDaddy hosting bill of more than $600 a year. We moved every site to our managed hosting, where all five now cost $155 a year.
The challenge
Each business had its own small website, and together the hosting cost more than $600 a year. Small contractor sites don’t need expensive plans, but every one of them brings in calls, so the move had to be done carefully.
More than $600 a year for five small business websites, which run perfectly well on a much lighter setup.
Each website brings in calls for a different company, so none of them could be left broken or offline after the move.
The saving
The websites, content and domains stayed the same. Only the hosting changed, and the yearly bill dropped by more than $445.
Yearly hosting cost for all five websites together.
The solution
We copied each site’s files and database from GoDaddy to our server and checked that every page, form and image worked.
We updated the DNS for each domain, so customers and Google reach the websites on their new home.
Each website runs on HTTPS with its own SSL certificate.
All five websites now run under a single managed hosting plan for $155 a year.
The owner doesn’t log in to a hosting control panel. We look after the server, and he messages us when he needs a change.
All five websites are still hosted with us today.
